We are excited to invite you to
First Annual Hymn Festival in Somers
Noted hymn writer/composer of sacred music, Al Fedak, will join us to talk about his hymn tunes and compositions for church choirs.
The theme of the afternoon will be "Caring for Creation."
Several of the hymns feature new texts sung to familiar tunes.
Mother earth will bless our songs.
Date: October 21st 3:00 PM
Church: Somers Congregational Church
599 Main St. Somers CT 06071
This invitation goes out to all people who enjoy singing, choir directors and their choirs, song leaders, instrumentalists and organists to make this event inclusive and collaborative in as many ways possible. We are currently looking for one or two trumpeters and one flutist. Organists who would like to participate either as accompanists or soloists will play our wonderful Richards and Fowkes tracker instrument, installed in 2018.
We also invite singers to join us for the first 8 weeks of the season, up to and including being part of the host choir in the festival.
Rehearsals: Thursdays at 7 in the music room.
All are welcome.
